Vice President / Asset Manager/Affordable Housing/Asset Management - New York, NY
| Basic Function | Oversight of low income housing assets, including equity positions and/or debt positions associated with those assets. Position requires proactive management, including analytical review of property level financials, Section 42 Low Income Housing Tax Credit (“LIHTC”) compliance monitoring, physical site inspections, regular interaction with general partners, sponsors and property managers, processing waiver and modification requests from general partners, recognition of negative trends, and resolution of problems as necessary. Position also requires risk rating assets in the portfolio and watch list reporting as well as interaction with and reporting to investors. |
| Primary Duties | (i) Monitor portfolio of assets financed with tax-exempt financing, agency debt, traditional financing, and low income housing and/or historic tax credits (ii) report on asset performance through risk rating and watch list reports (iii) proactively identify asset and market issues (iv) teach junior members of asset management group. Position requires (i) a solid understanding of LIHTC regulations (ii) the ability to understand ownership and equity investment documents and debt instruments (iii) a thorough knowledge of multifamily real estate and (iv) oral and written presentations to internal and external parties. |
| Experience | Candidate must have a strong working knowledge of affordable housing assets, including multifamily property financial operations and understanding complex ownership and loan documents and loan servicing agreements. Experience with credit and underwriting in the affordable housing industry is a plus. : Candidate must have at least five (5) years experience working with LIHTC assets. Other experience such as managing multifamily real estate portfolios, real estate development, loan originations, underwriting and real estate valuation is a plus. |
| Skills | Candidate must have strong analytical, negotiation, communication skills (both verbal and written), financial and computer skills. Candidates should have excellent time management and organizational skills. |
