Job Description
Manager/Agency Special Asset Management/Portfolio Management/Primary Servicing - Irving, TX
Basic Function Manage a new team that is responsible for both specially serviced and non-specially serviced assets and that are all considered to be medium to high risk. This includes all loans on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac’s watchlists.
Primary Duties • Review and approve the asset manager’s work as it relates to the review, analysis, negotiation and closing of assumption, modification, waiver and consent requests from Borrowers and/or equity partners on non-specially serviced assets pursuant to applicable loan document terms and guide requirements. • Work with the team to coordinate the approval process with internal management and, if applicable, with outside third parties including the agencies. • Manage the individual team member’s responsibilities to ensure duties are performed in a diligent, efficient, professional and timely manner while effectively handling an increasing volume of assignments. • When necessary, participate in meetings and conference calls with senior management, borrowers, clients, servicers, and third party associates relating to Special Asset Management assets. • Comprehend and have a thorough understanding of the Company’s Policies and Practices and ensure such guidelines are consistently met. The Manager should also constantly review servicing agreements, Agency Guidelines, etc. to ensure such documents are adhered to by the team. • The Manager will work with the legal department in negotiating loan documents and other servicing documents. • Act as liaison between the Special Asset Management Team, Originations and Underwriting to gather and share information. • Manage the relationship with in-house legal counsel and have team use this group as a resource for asset management and transactional issues. • Participate in industry activities, conferences and calls to provide information as well as increase knowledge and understanding of Agency and market/industry issues. • Mentor and train other members of the Special Asset Management Team. • Loss sharing calculation and reporting to Senior Management.
Experience Commercial real estate practices, asset management functions, workout/default negotiations and legal documentation for commercial real estate loans. Preferred knowledge in Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities, Agency or Affordable Housing industries.
Skills Management experience, excellent written communication skills and negotiating skills financial statement analysis skills professionalism
Education A BBA degree in Finance, Real Estate or Accounting (or similar degree) minimum of 10 years of experience in asset management industry, real estate lending or related fields. Fannie Mae and/or Freddie Mac experience required.
